School District #83

The Organizing Committee for the 2005 Centennial Homecoming Reunion (the “Committee”) for past attendees of Salmon Arm schools, determined that a fitting salute to their community, and a fitting memorial for former colleagues would be a fund that will provide scholarships or bursaries in perpetuity to future generations of Salmon Arm students.

The Committee’s intent is that the Centennial Reunion Scholarship Fund (the “Fund”) be managed by the Shuswap Community Foundation within the Foundation’s permanent capital fund. Scholarships generated from the Fund will be administered by School District #83. The Fund will be kept open and will be publicized with the further intent of attracting contributions from future school reunions.

Earnings on the Fund will be used at the discretion of the School District or Salmon Arm Senior Secondary School Scholarship Committee to provide annual scholarship or bursary awards to a graduate (or graduates) of Salmon Arm Senior Secondary School. The one condition imposed by the 2005 Centennial Homecoming Reunion Committee in assigning the capital funds to the Foundation is that an annual award be made in the names of Former Graduates of Salmon Arm Schools—the “Centennial Reunion Award.”
